Flat Creek SALT Water Quality Practices Continued




 

Alternitive Watering

Purpose

Is to encourage landowners to limit or exclude livestock from the stream and streamside management zone and improve water quality by providing an alternative water source.

What does it help pay for?
Cost-share incentives are available for fencing off the stream, a well (for livestock only), pipeline, tanks, etc.

Maintenance Life
This practice has a 10-year maintenance agreement that says the landowner will maintain the practice in accordance with NRCS standards for the life of the practice.



Use Exclusion

Purpose

Is to protect, maintain, or improve the quality of the plant, soil, and water resources.

How much does it pay?

This practice has a flat rate of 10 cents per linear foot of electric fence, and 25 cents per linear foot for barbed fence.  A per acre, one-time incentive payment maybe authorized not to exceed 100 acres per contract for the area excluded (this incentive payment is not available on the same acres recieving Riparian Forest Buffer financial assistance).

Maintance Agreement

This practice has a 10 year maintance agreement that says the landowner will maintain the practice in accordance to NRCS standards for the life of the practice.
