The Flat Creek Agriculture Non-Point Source (AgNPS) Special Area Land Treatment (SALT) Project is a seven year 750 thousand dollar grant funded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
The number one goal of this project is to improve water quality by providing cost-share practices to landowners in the watershed that help pay for such practices as: fencing livestock out of woodlands, well decommissioning, waste management systems, manure transfer, nutrient management, and riparian forest buffer strips.
Education will also be a big part of this grant. We are planning to hold two field days per year. One is targeted to adults and teaching best management practices on their farm, and the other field day will be targeted at students to educate them on conserving our natural resources.
